The Los Angeles County Yarn Crawl
This is by far the LARGEST, most EXPANSIVE, HOLY GRAIL of yarn crawls! Our local yarn crawl is the biggest in the states and knitters come from all around the nation to participate. Four days. 25 yarn shops. Not to mention door prizes, raffles, free patterns, free notions, podcasters, exclusive yarn crawl colorways, food tastings, sales and so much more. Vogue Knitting Live This event is a springtime institution here in SoCal. Taking place every year in April/May, Vogue Knitting Live comes to the picture perfect town of Pasadena bringing us oodles of yarn and fiber goodness. This is just what you expect from the series of events that Vogue curates around the nation. Fashion shows, Mochiland displays, workshops and more. Stay up to date on their web site. |

Griffin Dyeworks Annual Retreat Every year in June a fun loving bunch of local dyers drives up the mountainside to Lake Arrowhead for a weekend retreat full of natural dyeing, fireside knitting, and good company. Three whole days of dyeing yarn and a host of other fiber crafts in the beautiful pine forest. Everything is included, even food. Who wouldn’t want to go! And you can bring your family too! Indie Dyer Fair Born from a desire to have all the wonderful dyers of Soutehrn California in one beautiful setting for a one day celebration of color and talent, the Alamitos Bay Yarn Company has created an event that should stand the test of time. Set in a picturesque waterfront location right on the Long Beach marina. Check out the local color while watching the ships sail on by. Yarnosphere 'A weekend long hobnob for knitters and crocheters of every stripe and purl' could not describe the fun to be had with more accuracy. A yarn mecca of sorts, there are workshops, sit-ins for charity, guild gatherings, vendors and numerous spaces to meet up with fiber friends or just sit a bit and knit. This event takes place in September, so be sure to sign up for email updates on their web site and you won't miss out on all the fun. |
SoCalpaca Fall Festival Learn everything you could possibly know about alpacas at this family event. The Alpaca Breeders of Southern California host this wonderful event each year to spread knowledge and love for alpacas and their fibers. During this day long event you can take education courses on raising and owning alpacas, lead an alpaca through an obstacle course, watch a fiber art show or compete to see if you can win for best costume in the alpaca parade. Stitches West Stitches has become a household name for knitters and has a host of events across the country. This one happens to be all ours. A four day showcase of dyers, classes and fashion. Takes place every February in Santa Clara, CA. See their web site for more info. |
San Diego Yarn Crawl Take a tour of eight perfect little yarn shops in the beautiful seaside setting of San Diego. Each store goes all out with raffles, designer sightings, special events and giveaways. Takes place every September. See their web site for more info. |
San Luis Obispo Yarn Crawl
Perhaps the smallest of the events listed here, but definitely something to see. Located off the California Central Coast, which is truly one of the most beautiful places to visit, there are a handful of perfect yarn stores just waiting to be discovered. Takes place in September.
